Le premier parachute de Jacques Garnerin, essaye par lui-meme au parc de Mousseaux, le 22 octobre 1797 (the first parachute by Jacques Garnerin, tested by himself in the park of Mousseaux, 22 October 1797). Three technical illustrations show "Calotte du parachute" (crown of parachute); "Parachute ploye, a l'instant du departe" (folded parachute, moment of release from ascending balloon); and "Parachute deploye, a l'instant de la separation d'avec le ballon" (unfolded parachute, moment of separation). Etching with aquatint, hand-colored, likely from 1798 or 1799 ("An 7" - Year 7 of the French revolutionary calendar).
