Description
With this ship Prince William went to England in 1688 to expel the Catholic King James II and to secure the Protestant religion. "For faith and freedom," it says in Latin on the red flag. Bakhuysen made the painting in 1689, the year that William III and Mary Stuart were crowned King and Queen of England.
